Simon is the Director of Communications for the Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien (CSDCEO). At the CSDCEO since 2003, he has established a new communications culture with an emphasis on training and evaluation accompanying schools towards better and more effective communications. The CSDCEO has 31 elementary schools and 8 high schools with almost 11 000 students. A member of CACE since 2003, he was the CACE francophone executive member from 2005 to 2007. He was the CACE Treasurer in 2006 and 2007, and was CACE Vice President in 2008. Simon has has worked in education marketing and communications for the federal government, universities and colleges, in both Francophone and Anglophone settings. He has received different awards from the CCAE, CACE and NSPRA. He is the first French speaking president of CACE.

Maxeen Jolin is the Coordinator of Communications and Public Relations for Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board (SWLSB). The SWLSB is the third largest English school board in the province of Québec and serves 15,000 students in 26 elementary schools, 12 secondary schools and 5 adult and vocational training centres. She is responsible for the school board’s publications, website, advertising, media relations, communications planning and the Sir Wilfrid Laurier Foundation. Maxeen joined SWLSB in 2005 following two-years as Professional Development Coordinator for the Regroupement des Centres de la petite enfance des Laurentides (RCPEL). Prior to the RCPEL she worked for four-years as Project Manager for Cossette Communication, the largest advertising agency in Canada.

Manager of Communications and Freedom of Information/Protection of Privacy for the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board in Ontario, Nancy has over 28 years of experience in school board communications, public relations, access and privacy and records management. She is responsible for the Board’s media relations, publications, district website, internal and external communications, special events planning, advertising, communication planning, crisis communication, communications, privacy and records management training, and administers the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy and Records Management functions. In her 35 year career, Nancy has worked in corporate public relations, municipal recreation, addiction research services, and at both public and Catholic school boards. She has served in numerous non-profit community organizations and agencies as a volunteer. In 2002, she was inducted into the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame as an All-around Athlete was one of the first two women in Canada to win the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. Nancy has been a CACE member for almost 20 years and has won numerous awards for communications projects at both NSPRA and CACE.

Donna is the Director of Communications for the Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District, a position she has held for 18 years. The district, which is on the east coast of Vancouver Island, serves 15,000 students in 33 elementary schools, 7 secondary schools and several alternative and distance education programs. She is responsible for the School District 68 Board of Education’s media relations, publications, district website, internal and external communications, advertising and communications planning. She also serves as the district’s Information and Privacy Coordinator. In her 35-year career, Donna has worked in a wide variety of areas, including communications in the post-secondary sector, as a newspaper reporter and editor, in advertising and in public relations. She has a B.A. in journalism from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Donna served on the planning committee of the 2007 Vancouver CACE conference.

Richard is Communications Officer for the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial in Nova Scotia. The CSAP has 19 schools and over 4,200 students. He was also Information officer at Université Sainte-Anne for 10 years following a career in newspapers. He holds a Masters Degree in Modern Languages from Université d'Aix-en-Provence, France. His responsibilities include all aspects of communications with the public and the media (press releases, advertising, resource person, internal communications) and has cultural responsibilities. The CSAP has just completed, among others, a communications plan, a staff recrutement plan and a French and Acadian Education Promotion Week in the province for the second year. He is also responsible for the FIOPOP Act and for the publication of the board's bulletin "les P'tites nouvelles" (available to be seen on the CSAP web site at http://csap.ednet.ns.ca in the "Section de la presse").

Bruce is the Director of Community Relations with Red Deer Public Schools. A former high school teacher and administrator, Bruce is in his tenth year at Central Services and is part of the district's Senior Administration team. Red Deer Public Schools serves 10,000 students in 21 schools within the city of Red Deer. In addition to sharing the good news and great things happening in schools with the community, his portfolio includes responsibility for the Aboriginal Frontline Program, Foundation for Red Deer Public Schools as well as partnerships and connections within the community. A member of CACE since 1999, Bruce was on the planning committee for the CACE Conference in Calgary in 2005 and has coordinated the BRAVO awards program for the association. Red Deer Public Schools is pleased to have been recognized by both CACE and NSPRA for award winning communication projects. Bruce has particular interest in public articipation, education foundations and parent engagement within our schools and jurisdictions.

Diane is Communications Coordinator for Battle River School Division, located in east central Alberta. BRSD stretches over 6800 km and serves students in more than 20 towns, villages and surrounding rural areas. Diane has been with the school division for about four years, following 18 years managing the communications program for a health care organization and a further five years as a reporter and editor in weekly and daily newspapers. Her first formal training was in journalism, which she followed up with a voluntary sector management program and then training specific to the communications field. As a member of the school division’s senior leadership team, Diane oversees media relations, crisis communication, internal and external communication, communication planning and also works closely with the elected Board of Trustees on public consultation projects.
