Doug Strachan, President strachan_d@sd36.bc.caDoug has been the communications manager for the Surrey School District—the largest school district in B.C.—since October 2003. He's also the district's privacy officer. A BCIT Broadcast Journalism grad, Doug worked two years at the BCTV Weekend News Hour before joining CKNW radio where he worked for seven years as a reporter. Doug joined BC Tel as media relations manager, becoming national director of external relations for Telus, the successor to BC Tel. He left Telus for a media consulting career, providing media planning and management services for the Air India and Robert Pickton trials for the B.C. Ministry of Attorney General. Doug has been a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society since 1998 and joined the executive of the Canadian Association of Communicators in Education in 2004. He has a Graduate Certificate in Public Relations Management from Royal Roads University in Victoria.
| Simon Vinet, Past-President vinesi@csdceo.on.ca Simon is the Director of Communications for the Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien (CSDCEO). At the CSDCEO since 2003, he has established a new communications culture with an emphasis on training and evaluation accompanying schools towards better and more effective communications. The CSDCEO has 30 elementary schools and 8 high schools with almost 11 000 students. A member of CACE since 2003, he was the CACE francophone executive member from 2005 to 2007. He was the CACE Treasurer in 2006 and 2007, and was CACE Vice-0President in 2008. Simon has worked in educational marketing and communications for the federal government, universities and colleges, in both Francophone and Anglophone settings. He has received different awards from the CCAE, CACE and NSPRA. He was the first French speaking president of CACE.

Maxeen is the Coordinator of Communications and Public Relations for Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board (SWLSB). The SWLSB is the third largest English school board in the province of Québec and serves 15,000 students in 26 elementary schools, 12 secondary schools and 4 adult and vocational training centres. She is responsible for the school board’s publications, website, advertising, media relations, communications planning and the Sir Wilfrid Laurier Foundation. Maxeen joined SWLSB in 2005 following two-years as Professional Development Coordinator for the Regroupement des Centres de la petite enfance des Laurentides (RCPEL). Prior to the RCPEL she worked for four-years as Project Manager for Cossette Communication, the largest advertising agency in Canada.

Manager of Communications and Freedom of Information/Protection of Privacy for the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board in Ontario, Nancy has over 28 years of experience in school board communications, public relations, access and privacy and records management. She is responsible for the Board’s media relations, publications, district website, internal and external communications, special events planning, advertising, communication planning, crisis communication, communications, privacy and records management training, and administers the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy and Records Management functions. In her 35 year career, Nancy has worked in corporate public relations, municipal recreation, addiction research services, and at both public and Catholic school boards. She has served in numerous non-profit community organizations and agencies as a volunteer. In 2002, she was inducted into the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame as an All-around Athlete was one of the first two women in Canada to win the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. Nancy has been a CACE member for almost 20 years and has won numerous awards for communications projects at both NSPRA and CACE.
| Kim Hamilton, Treasurer khamilton@qesba.qc.caKim Hamilton is the Communications and Special Projects Director for the Quebec English School Boards Association (QESBA). Kim joined QESBA in 2003 following five years as Regional Coordinator for the Québec Liberal Party. Prior to the Québec Liberal Party, Kim worked with Senator E. Leo Kolber for two years as a project manager on various fundraising activities and the Heritage Minutes project. Kim began her career with Reynolds Aluminum as the Québec public relations liaison with the western provinces.
| Richard Landry, Secretary, Francophone Representative and 2011 Conference Co-Chair landryr@CSAP.EDnet.NS.CaRichard is Communications Officer for the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial in Nova Scotia. The CSAP has 19 schools and over 4,200 students. He was also Information officer at Université Sainte-Anne for 10 years following a career in newspapers. He holds a Masters Degree in Modern Languages from Université d'Aix-en-Provence, France. His responsibilities include all aspects of communications with the public and the media (press releases, advertising, resource person, internal communications) and has cultural responsibilities. The CSAP has just completed, among others, a communications plan, a staff recrutement plan and a French and Acadian Education Promotion Week in the province for the second year. He is also responsible for the FIOPOP Act and for the publication of the board's bulletin "les P'tites nouvelles" (available to be seen on the CSAP web site at http://csap.ednet.ns.ca in the "Section de la presse").
| Claire Francoeur , 2012 Conference co-chair francoeurc@CSViamonde.caClaire Francoeur has accumulated over twenty years experience in communications, marketing and the media. Initially a journalist, she held several leadership roles for renowned private media companies, eventually heading CBC/Radio-Canada’s regional radio stations in southern Ontario. After a few years at the CBC, she accepted the position of Director of Communications for the Viamonde School Board, which she occupies to this day.
| Catherine Shedden, 2012 Conference co-chair catherine.shedden@tldsb.on.caCatherine has worked in communications at Trillium Lakelands District School Board in Ontario since 2003. Prior to this she was the Creative Director at Broadfield Communications, a marketing and communications firm based in Peterborough, Ontario. She brings over 18 years experience in public relations, publishing, design for print and web, media relations, and event planning to her role as Communications Manager for TLDSB. Catherine also manages the Director of Education's office for the Board which includes parent engagement, character development, healthy schools, and working with trustees as part of her portfolio. Catherine has been a member of CACE since 2003 and has been the Ontario regional co-liaison for the past three years.
